Programme Requirements for 2024/25 Session

The following must be taken:
Students must choose 80 credits of optional modules. Students will be registered by default for LI Public History unless they choose ONE 20-credit skills module OR an appropriate language module in consultation with the programme lead.
OR a language module at an appropriate level. Modules offered by Languages for All (LfA) are listed on a separate specification owned by the School of Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music OR a Future Skills module
Students may also apply to undertake a Professional Skills module at level I. If successful this will be taken in place of 20 credits of taught modules. The credits to be dropped will be discussed with the programme convenor. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation.
LI Optional modules List A (Semester 1): Students must choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1 and ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2. This list is indicative; not all modules will run each year depending on staff availability. LI Optional modules List B (Semester 2): Students must choose ONE 20-credit option in Semester 1 and ONE 20-credit option in Semester 2. List B (Semester 2): Research Methods Options List C: Students must choose ONE 20-credit option from the following in Semester 2: With the approval of the programme leader students may also take 20 or 40 credits of an approved module or modules offered by a School or Department other than History in place of one or two Options from Lists A and/ or B. Credits must still be evenly balanced across semesters. Theology and Religion Department optional module available to History students.
